Big Ben Slot Review

In an interesting twist, Australian-based slot developer Aristocrat has put forth its own version of a Big Ben Slot. Cozy Games previously released such a game titled the same, but this would seem to be a tad bit better.

Game-Play Features

Aristocrat’s Big Ben Slot incorporates many of the landmarks that have made England a favorite sight-seeing destination. The game is played 5 reels and 25 pay lines. Players can wager between $.01 and $2,00 per line, making the minimum bet $.25 per spin and the maximum $50.00.

The Symbols

The standard low paying symbols are represented by playing card numbers 9-Ace with the Queen and King wearing the appropriate crowns. Other low paying symbols include a double-decker bus, a classic English phone booth, the British flag and a street lamp. The Buckingham Palace guard serves as the game’s wild symbol. It can be used to substitute for anything except the game’s scatter symbol (Big Ben) and also comes with a 2X multiplier on winning spins.

Bonus Features and Free Spins

If the player lands a Big Ben scatter symbol anywhere on reels 1 and 5, they will become the recipient of any exciting bonus. The amount of the bonus will be determined by how many times the Big Ben clock chimes with 12 times and a 500X multiplier bringing the highest possible reward. If the player lands 3, 4 or 5 Big Ben symbols on any particular spin, they will earn the opportunity to take 15, 20 or 25 free spins, respectively. All free spin games come with a 2X multiplier, plus free spins can be -re-triggered.

Verdict: True to form, Aristocrat has developed another vanilla slot in Big Ben. British players might enjoy the game because of nostalgia for their home country, but the symbols won’t do much to inspire players for other countries, particularly Australia. The chimes of the Big Ben clock tower bring a nice touch to the audio function, but it does very little to make up for the fact there really isn’t much of a video presence within the game. That’s a big deal in a day and age when players have so many exciting video slots from which to choose. In the final analysis, the max bonus potential is tempting, but it really doesn’t serve as much of an incentive to play a slot with so little to offer.
